Seismic array Greenland Ice Dynamics Water Flow Hydrofracturing Dense
Abstract : The aim of this campaign is to deploy a dense seismic network (100 sensors) during summer on the Insuggiata Sermia Glacier in Greenland. The aim of this work is to study fracturing and fluid flows induced by surface melting, and the role of these processes on glacier dynamics. We carried out an equivalent campaign in Spring 2023, for which we have very nice preliminary results. However, during this campaign we were unable to experience intense surface melting conditions, as temperatures remained abnormally low over the period investigated. In this campaign, we will be instrumenting the glacier from mid-June to mid-July, which will enable us to acquire data during a major surface melt. Ultimately, the two sets of data we will have acquired will form a highly complementary whole, covering a wide range of behaviours.
